Admissions Requirements

M.S. in Network Engineering:

  • Application fee of $75

  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 for all previous undergraduate and graduate studies

  • A B.S. in one of the sciences, mathematics or computer science or in one of the engineering disciplines or bachelor’s degree in liberal arts or business with additional background in differential and integral calculus and physics

  • Computer programming experience (preferred)

  • No GRE requirement

  • Unofficial transcripts accepted (Official must be submitted before registering)

M.S. in Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence Specialization:

  • Application fee of $75

  • A bachelor’s degree in one of the quantitative sciences, mathematics or computer science or in one of the engineering disciplines

  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in your undergraduate studies

  • A minimum of one year of college-level calculus

  • A minimum of two years of industry experience or submission of official GRE general graduate school admission test scores

  • A minimum of one reference — name and contact information of one person who can speak to your character and professional background (Note: Not letters of recommendation)

  • Unofficial transcripts accepted (Official must be submitted before registering)

*Note: Applicants with undergraduate degrees in disciplines other than computer science may be admitted to the program but may be required to take articulation coursework and/or satisfy the competency requirement.

Tuition and Graduate Financial Aid

The SMU Graduate Financial Aid Office was created to provide graduate students with a reliable resource for information on issues unique to graduate programs.

Lyle’s Online Master of Science in Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence Specialization & Master of Science in Network Engineering

The cost per credit is $1,350, plus a distance fee of $100 per credit hour, which brings the total cost to $43,500 for both 30-credit degrees.
